Please support me in the Walk for Parkinson's!

Thanks for visiting our team page!
Shit happens… Ahem… I mean Schut Happens, sometimes… like a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Harry Schut was diagnosed with PD nearly 6 years ago, and it has drastically affected his & his family’s lives ever since.
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure. Many people think simply of tremors or difficulty walking when they hear Parkinson’s - in reality, it affects so much more. From voice and facial expression changes, to chronic fatigue, to balance issues, to mood changes and mood disorders, to digestive issues such as difficulty swallowing or chronic constipation, PD can turn every day tasks into a struggle.
Medications can help, but do not slow down or cure this disease. Harry has quickly reached the highest dose of medications he can safely & comfortably take, and the next step is Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in the coming months. We are so grateful for medical advancements that have come about as a direct result of research funded by donations like yours.
By supporting our team in the Walk for Parkinson’s this September, we can ensure the continuation of the initiatives provided by the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario to people with Parkinson’s as well as their caregivers through much needed programs and services, as well as advocacy and research initiatives. Your donation will stay local and directly positively impact people in your community, like Harry, who live with Parkinson’s every day.
Harry has been featured in several news articles, speaking about his journey with Parkinson's as well as his passion for photography. See the links below to watch and read:
