Please support me in the Walk for Parkinson's!

Thanks for visiting my Personal Page!
For a person living with Parkinson’s, each day can be a struggle to perform common tasks that most of us take for granted. Medication can help symptoms, but there’s no cure for this progressive neurodegenerative disease. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s is expected to double.
My Journey and why PSSO is like HOME for me
My name is Lynn Tomlinson, and I am a retired elementary school teacher who stepped away from the classroom in 2016. A year later, I faced a life-altering diagnosis: Parkinson’s Disease. Since my diagnosis, I have been proactive in managing my health, I have regular appointments with a neurologist and a physiotherapist who have helped me to manage the symptoms with medication and exercise. Throughout this journey, I have experienced a range of symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, rigidity, balance issues, anxiety, foot cramps, and heavy sweating.
One of the most significant turning points in my journey came when my physiotherapist introduced me to the Parkinson’s Support Group in Leamington. This Support Group is run by Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario (PSSO). Since I joined this Parkinson Support Group, I was asked to help Facilitate the meetings and I am still facilitating meetings. I participate in the VON SMART Exercise Class weekly. I have participated in the Parkinson Choir sessions. I join Zoom Dansing with Parkinson’s three times a week. I have taken the Louder, Clearer Speech Program. I attend Parkinson Conferences that are organized by PSSO. I have learned so much about Parkinson’s Disease and how to live with it, from joining these programs and attending these events. This is why Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario is like HOME for me.
With your support, together, we can ensure that there is a place for people living with Parkinson’s to turn to – a place like Home. Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario provides much needed programs services, advocacy and research initiatives to build and spread awareness, care and support for Parkinson’s. They are Home for everyone living with Parkinson’s Disease in Southwestern Ontario.
Please support me as I Walk for Parkinson’s this September. Your donation will stay local and help make a difference to more than 10,000 people living with Parkinson’s right here at Home.
